I've been in software for 25 years and I can honestly say that Skydemon is one of the best applications I have used.  Unfortunately for some reason the developers have decided to remove a lot of the extended runways from the smaller airfields.  I spoke to a (lovely) young lady in support who informed be that it's because the don't have the exact runway coordinates.
This is a really bad decision that must have come from a developer not a pilot ! The extended runways are an invaluable tool if you are in track up mode so that you cannot lose orientation, they don't need to be ultra precise BUT in crowded airspace such as a fly in they are a great tool, not for ILS but for orientation.  Nothing has been gained by removing these, a lot has been lost.
If sky demon read this, please put them back in!

( I see a thread has already been raised below)

We haven't removed anything, or indeed changed the way extended centrelines work for a long, long time.

(I am a developer and pilot).

Hi Tom
I was running the last version of the software on my PC and Weston Zoyland was selectable runway, now it's not?  In any event is it not sensible to have the runways centrelines in anyway even if you don't have precise coordinates as a tool?  Even if they are a different colour or whatever
ps
Thanks for a speedy reply - great service as always

Which runways you "see" depends on the setting of minimum usable runway length in the Setup section. Just make sure that this is set lower than the runway of the airport you are worrying about.

It isn't clear from your message exactly what you are trying to do, and what you're seeing as opposed to what you are expecting to see. I will have a guess.

Westonzoyland is a microlight strip without surveyed runway threshold coordinates, so the "precision" approach option of nominating a runway for our pseudo-ILS is not available. I do not believe it ever has been. However, what you are referring to in your first post is the feature whereby extended centrelines are drawn on the main map for all runways as a rough orientation tool. This has not changed either, and sure enough if I plot a route to Westonzoyland and simulate it in the latest version, the extended centrelines for four runways appear when I am on my last leg.

Hopefully this clears up your confusion. There has been no downgrade.

Hi Tom
Sorry if I'm not explaining myself.  The extended centre lines appear, which is good.  Therefore SD is taking a software decision to add in an extended centreline to some coordinates in the database.  However it's scripted it's adding it in.  However, if there are no circles it will arbitrarily choose an extended centreline.  For instance last Sunday heading back to Draycot Farm  I wanted to land on RW 18 as the wind was SW.  SD decided I should use 36 and I could not change it.
What I am asking for is the ability to select the runway with Extended Centre Line rather than SD doing it for us. If the information is enough for SD to show it, it should be enough for us to select it
cheers
Gary

That's quite a different request. Before, you were accusing us of having changed or removed a feature that you liked. Is that now not the case?

Regarding the potential ability to select a runway at a small strip. Can you explain how this would actually be beneficial, please? SkyDemon shows all extended centrelines and draws the one you're "closest" to slightly differently but that changes as you fly around the airfield. This is intended to help with early orientation. If we can understand what you're actually hoping to achieve by selecting one of them, then we'll be able to properly consider your request and give a correct answer. The ability to select one at some airfields is for our "precision" approach tools which guide you down to the threshold, I assume you're not wanting to use that at a strip.

Thanks!
