Hi there, I use SD on my iPad with a DUAL XGPS150 Bluetooth GPS sensor.

Since the last iPad iOS SW update this week (now on iOS 8.3) this problem seems to have arisen...

When I tell SD to "Go Flying" it initially picks up the location OK but within 30 seconds it seems to disconnect from the GPS and the dreaded "Waiting for Location Data" message comes up.

Can you help?

Thanks,

Andy

30 seconds? More like 10 seconds. Tried using Skydemon with my Dual XGPS150 yesterday and it just did not give me a location for more than 10 seconds. My Garmin GPS was working just fine, so I know that I had a good GPS signal. I have also just upgraded to IOS 8.3

Any ideas most welcome...

Unfortunately you're probably running into a bug in iOS 8.3 concerning external GPS receivers. More information below; sadly there is nothing we can do about this from our end. All apps that use GPS data are affected.

Actually to say to us "oh there is nothing we can do"  is completely unsatisfactory, Mr SkyDemon!!

While you cant fix the operating system you can put pressure on Apple to fix it rather than just sitting back and hoping it get fixed some year some time.

How about opening a case with Apple like other suppliers have - the more pressure the aviation industry puts on them for this issue the more likely its get a priority.

How about giving us a daily update of your communication with Apple on this issue

etc

This appears to be a big problem causing difficulty's to many end users like myself. Having paid my subscription to Skydemon for a product to assist me with navigation I am no longer able to use it to navigate. Can I politely suggest that Skydemon make their own enquiries to Apple regarding this annoying glitch and give your customers regular updates. I know your software is not at fault here but its main functions are severely compromised as long as this bug exists and might call in to question the value of your product.

Looking forward to a swift resolution by Apple and further updates from Skydemon.

With my xgps 160 the problem is intermittend. The dual gps app seems to work fine. I agree with the other posters, SkyDemon, please push Apple to solve this problem. I will also try to contact Dual about this problem.

Apple are already working on the problem. For the latest information on it, and also a workaround in some cases, you need to talk to the vendor of your external GPS receiver.

I'm not associated with SkyDemon in any way other than as a satisfied (Android) customer, but I find the tone of your comment quite unhelpful, radiocheck. First, why should Skydemon spend their limited resource fixing a problem between a third party GPS and a third party OS update? Second, even if they did, they would be just one voice - if you and everyone else affected got off their backside and contacted both Garmin and Apple directly, the impact would be much greater than one complaint from one small (sorry Tim!!!) company.

I suggest you take your own advice, radiocheck.

Umm - Skydemon is advistised as working on ipad. I pay Skydemon for a subscription. Skydemon is a company (whatever size) and I am sure they get support from Apple in one form or another - Skydemon can raise a case on this as it affects the use of Skydemon.

Individuals and suppliers can add pressure and your post is extremely unhelpful in ignoring that. I am saying that an attitude of everyone pointing at everyone (which is what triggered my post) else means nothing gets fixed. In fact I blame you personally for this issue. (did that help ?)
