As I was planning on flying tomorrow, this evening I fired up SkyDemon to do some planning.

After starting it up it informed me that there was a newer version available. I was currently running version 2.3.0.

I let the installation complete, which it did normally, however, upon trying to start SkyDemon now, it just crashes with a Windows error "SkyDemon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I tried to repair the install, but even that failed with an error (it was attempting to read a non-existant temporary file in my install directory).

I resorted to an uninstall of SkyDemon, followed by a complete re-install; however, that hasn't worked either.

All my Microsoft Updates are up-to-date.

Going to try and find my previous version install file and roll-back.

Any ideas what the problem may be Tim?

Cheers,

Dom

OK now that I've finished flying for the day and had a chance to play, I can confirm that if you uninstall your previous version of SkyDemon using the Windows Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs and then re-install Version 2.3.2, then it will work.

During the uninstall, you will not lose any of your previous data.

If you use the automatic update with version 2.3.2 and get an error, then using the 'application' repair or remove option by running the install MSI again will NOT fix the problem. You need to do a complete uninstall from the Windows Control Panel.

Thanks to Tim and everyone else in this forum for their help. Hopefully Tim will get to the bottom of why the automatic update is failing on some Windows devices.

Dom.
