It is possible to get the weather for airports outside your planned.

Just click/point on the airport you want METAR/TAF (if available) for and then choose the airport and select Approach Information.

You then will get METAR/TAF and NOTAM for that airport.

Hi TMF,

Many thanks indeed.

The other day in extremely bad weather, minimum VFR, I was looking for divert options and to be able to just go to a weather tab and request a TAF/METAR would have been great - in a busy cockpit I didn't want to start playing too much with routes or, at that time, come off the route I was on. Just a simple quick and easy requirement for other weather information in order to make a real time decision.

Same idea for the plates - don't always know what you want in planning - i.e. the war plan doesn't survive the first battle ! I must admit I thought the program did download the plates that I selected.

SD is a fantastic program ! I'll keep playing with it until I find a work around.

Once again many tks - best - westie

If you happen to have an internet connection in-flight (3G) -- SD would need such to get weather, in any case -- send an email to met@flylogical.com with your ICAO airport codes on the subject-line. You will get the METs and TAFs a few seconds later for each ICAO entry. You can also send same to plogs@flylogical.com . You will get MET and TAFs along the route defined by the ICAO codes, as opposed to the specific entries...

Otherwise, simply call-up LONDON or SCOTTISH on radio and ask for actuals at given location...

Mantino thats not the most helpful response.

westie - i assume you have a 3G iPad?

If you are suggesting you want to be flying a route and select an airfield not part of your route to check the weather there, i don't believe this is possible 'on the fly'. I suppose I would ask why might you want to do this? If you are in a situation where you need / want to divert you can select the new airfield and the either append to route or use direct to - provide you have 3G and your SD is set for online in flight mode it should refresh on all counts.

In terms of plates I personally havent had this issue - it keeps the plates that are based on my route - it doesn't download all plates and store them on the iPad only the ones relevant to the route. Same scenario above would apply i believe. Though I think you can select an airfield not in your route and select Find Plates from within the airfield menu.

Hope that helps.

Could someone tell me, whilst enroute, is there a way to get the WEATHER or NOTAM for an airport not presented in the METAR, TAF or NOTAM TABs - I'm using an IPAD2

Also I download PLATES and then they disappear - any ideas

I think I've read most info on here - any help gratefully received

Best - Westie
