Tony, Are you still getting this error?:

"On the GPS I have gone into settings then into Navigation Path and set the Navigation Path as "\SDMMC\SkyDemon\SkyDemon.exe". When I then go to the main screen of the GPS and press Navigation I get "Please set Navigation Path"."

If you are it means that you haven't "saved" your Navigation Path by tapping the disc icon at the top before exiting.

If it was a .net problem, SkyDemon.exe will at least try to run & then throw up an error message.

I've also discovered that on my unit, I have to put it into "Sleep" mode, after exiting SKD, to save any registration changes. GPS uses Com1 & 38400 baud works well.

If you are still stuck, send me a PM & I'll point you to a menu to download, which might make things easier.Tongue

I can also confirm that Tim has isolated the problem I was having, & now SkyDemon works on both my Satnavs.

Regards,

Max.

Tony

Hi Max UK

It sounds like I have almost the same GPS as you with the "Red Car by a Windmil" when you first turn the unit on.

I have done all the things that you suggested but can not get the GPS to run SkyDemon. As I said in my previous email I can "Pocket FMS" to run on it so it can not be all me.

I appreciate your suggestions

Thanks

Tony

Tony, telling us that it is a "bog standard gps" really doesn't help. There are hundreds of "bog standard gps" units, all of which are configured slightly differently and with different features available on them. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with these differences to be able to tell you how to install .net on your particular device.

Max, what error did you get?

Tony,

I have a generic "Chinese" 4.3" GPS (Spare) & have just test installed SkyDemon Inflight as a stand alone program on a freshly formatted 1GB SD card.

My opening splash screen on the GPS, is a "Red car by a windmill" - any similarity?

If so, it will run SKD. I formatted a spare 1GBG card (FAT) put it in a card reader & installed SkyDemon Inflight from the PC start menu. Used the Install by Secure Digital Card option - only chose Terrain, UK & Ireland.

Put card in GPS, turned on & click the right arrow until Settings is visible. Click Settings - Click Right Arrow - Click Nav Path.

Tap Arrow - Double Tap "SkyDemon" - Double Tap "SkyDemon.exe"

Tick the Auto Run Navigation box - Tap the disc icon at the top (saves the choice) - Tap the "Ring" icon at the top

Now return to the Navigation (Car) icon at the bottom of the screen. Tapping it should start Skydemon.

If I'm stating "The bl**ding obvious", apologies,BigGrin but it might help someone else.

I suspect you've done all of this, but the most important thing is to click the disc icon before leaving "Settings" so that the settings are held in memory.

(I'll road test this install tomorrow, but I'm finding 1.1 crashes with an error after 5 minutes on my regular Navigo V2 )

Best of luck,

Max.

Tim

The GPS I have got is a bog standard GPS.  As I said in my previous email. I have downloaded and run "Pocket FMS" (your competion) on it straight out of the box without having to load extra software.

Like you suggested. I have downloaded ".net compact framework". How do I get it to run on my device? Download it onto the SD card which I have tried. As I said my device does not have activeSync on it.

I now have on the SD card "CompactFramework" and "SkyDemon".

Unfortuntley I am no computer expert hence the problems I am having running your software on my device.

We offer support, but I can't help you with that message because every device is different and I haven't a clue what it means. This "Please set Navigation Path" message is coming from your device, not from SkyDemon. As long as you've got the .net compact framework installed on the device that should be the only requirement.

If you have obtained a generic device and only copied the SkyDemon files across, chances are you haven't got .net installed on the device.

Hi AT3

I sent you a PM as well with my email address. Not sure if you would get it so posting it here.

Maybe you can help me please.

I saw your post on SkyDemon. I was wondering how you installed SkyDemon on your portable GPS.
I have a Chinese GPS import and can not do an activesync on it so have loaded SkyDemon onto the GPS SD card. The files I have loaded on the SD card are.....
ONE File Folder called "Data" and
THREE Application Extensions called "Divelements.Aviation"  "Divelements.CFSuport" "Divelements.Mapping" and
ONE Application called "SkyDemon".

On the GPS I have gone into settings then into Navigation Path and set the Navigation Path as "\SDMMC\SkyDemon\SkyDemon.exe". When I then go to the main screen of the GPS and press Navigation I get "Please set Navigation Path".

I have had "Pocket FMS" working on the GPS but it was self loading. I can not get SkyDemon to work. I emailed Tim but he said they do not offer support.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

The new installer is designed to make it much, much easier to get InFlight on a device. In particular you don't have to worry about installing the license file or any data files; the installer does it for you. If you have followed the license installation instructions (on the PC) you will have saved your iflicense.skdl file to your My Documents\SkyDemon directory. The InFlight installer then installs the file for you on to the card.

If you are installing via SD Card the installer cannot create a shortcut in your start menu.
