At first I could get the device to sync after upgrading to V2.0 on the pc . Another day, another a try, and the sync worked, except it overwrote the map already present. Then when booting SD mobile there is a message saying 'no maps installed' or words to that effect. Fortunately, I had a back up of the SD files from previous version, so I copy across the file that seems to be the map data file. Re-boot & the map is there, except it no longer shows any terrain. The airfields, airspace, dots for spot heights (no figures) are there, just no ground at any zoom level!



Have I missed a file somewhere or what?

Just let the install and sync functions do their work, and all files should be present and correct. If necessary, delete what's on the device and do a fresh install using the installer in the Device Connectivity Options screen. I'm assuming this is a third-party device.

The chart format hasn't changed for a long time.

I did a fresh install onto a different SDcard plus a sync, now when I boot the device I get 'no charts installed'. But I can see the skydata file on the card when I plug it into the card reader! What about the .dem files, are these still required?

OK, I'm part way there. Because it was a fresh install, it no longer knew which com port to use. And because it didn't know where it was in the world, it didn't know to load the chart.



However, what about these .dem files? Is the terrain now supposed to be in the skydata or not?

You need the dem files, but I can't understand why this is a problem. If you use the mobile installer, all necessary files are installed and everything is set up automatically. It's all in the documentation.
