GELU - 12/18/2018 3:42:29 PM
I just found this topic and registered to write something about it, since I'm dying for a few years now to get skydemon in Georgia. Frans is absolutely right, general aviation is continuously growing in Georgia and more old airfields reopen. Stuff changed since Georgia joined Eurocontrol back in 2012. As a half Georgian, I fly when I can in the country of my origin, but there is simply no application that is suitable for VFR flying in Georgia. Skydemon would be GREAT to have on my flights overthere. I already use it in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany with a lot of pleasure, but for a application that supports Europe, Georgia as a European country should be included.

I know, most people think Georgia is just a very poor country with war on Russia. Well, just come over and see for yourself. It changed a lot in the last 10 years. Fun fact: Georgia has now some of the lowest crime rates in the world. Your airplane will be safe at night. Locals are more then grateful to help you out.

Hello,
we plan a flying trip to Turkey and Georgia, mid april 2022 (3 gyrocopters).
we are looking for local contacts, to get informations and connections for our recreational trip.
If Frans and or Gelu and or other people know about microlights or small aircrafts in Georgia, I would be pleased to communicate.
cheers. Jerome.

Hello Frans, many thanks for your feedback but unfortunately this forum isn't a good place for it. Could you please contact customer support with that message so they can work with you? I'm sure most of your issues can be resolved.

Great job for adding Georgia now to SkyDemon, well done! I really appreciate how the SD-team evolves the product step by step. Completing the entire European airspace (except for Russia, but this has some reasons I guess) is a huge milestone. Can't wait to use SD in Georgia upcoming summer.

For now I've a short first feedback:
- Temporary Prohibited Area UGP230 is missing on the map. This is really important to not get shut down or escorted by russian air defence, in case someone penetrates this airspace, since Abkhazia is an occupied territory and only recognized by Russia and a few other countries. Full Information available on AIP-SUP 01/2019. I'm not sure about South Ossetia (the other occupied territory), so far as I know (and I couldn't find any data in the AIP) there are no restrictions or other limitations, but I will ask local pilots.
- Georgia is not yet listed within the Airfields > AIP Tab
- Several (private or disused) airstrips are not listed on the map (I could provide the data if needed)
- If you're zoomed out on the map, the name "Georgia" is not marked on the country (but less important ;-) )
EDIT:
- Double FIS entry with same frequency
- Missing frequencies for Natakhtari (131,750) and Telavi (120,000)

Are there any plans to add the country Georgia to Skydemon soon? Its just a tiny country and they are member of EUROCONTROL as well. The complete AIP is available on the European AIS Database. It would be great to have it in Skydemon during visits in Georgia, especially because of the good terrain feature, since Georgia is a very mountainous country and good VFR planning is crucial.

Georgia is developing general aviation very quickly during the last few years. Several former old sovjet-airfields are (or will be) turned into renovated general aviation fields. A good example here is Telavi (UGGT), which has been opened in 2016 and also delivers Mogas and Avgas. Other fields for reconstruction will follow soon. Also brand-new airports should be mentioned here. For example Ambrolauri (UGAM), new since 2017.

Turkey is available (in beta?) for a while now, but adding Georgia would make the European airspace in Skydemon complete. Especially now for the growing Georgian GA-community with more and more (new/reactivated) destinations. The country has a lot potentional for VFR-pilots.

There's a chance of Turkey, but we couldn't give a timescale.
