It does make sense, thanks. Surely that area would be about the size of a postage stamp? I wonder if part of this issue is that you're using SkyDemon on a very small screen?

Hi Tim,
Not sure I'm explaining myself very well - a picture paints a thousand words so:
1) This is what I see when I select a long runway at Cambridge
2) This is what I see when I now select RWY28 without changing the zoom level
3) And this is what I'd like to see (excuse the poor graphics but done v. quickly)
I hope this makes sense?

I'm not familiar with the way Garmin do it. We don't attempt to draw circuits to scale at all; I'm sure they'd be unflyable if you were to actually attempt it. However when you're zoomed out such that the length of the smaller runway is only an inch long, then by the time we've drawn the line with the arrows on it would just be a mess (we did lots of experimentation when designing the feature). Perhaps you could illustrate with a screenshot of when you think we should be drawing but we aren't?

I quite like the way the garmin 296/496 series depicts runway circuits with a left/right arrow at end of runway. Less cluttered (& less clutter is a SD hallmark). Current SD depiction is rather clunky.
But the feature to select runway in use is great . . I wd like to be able to specify L/R (or take from approach plate with ability to override somehow).

Regarding the size of the circuit depiction, SkyDemon only draws it if there's enough room. If you're zoomed right out to look at a long runway then there may well not be enough room to draw a circuit around a small runway.
Is the circuit diagram a specific size/distance from the runway or just diagrammatic to represent the circuit direction. I had assumed (maybe incorrectly) the latter and that it was not intended as a track to follow in flight so that the it could be redrawn at any scale when viewing zoomed out, if not then what circuit dimensions are you assuming as these will change from airfield to airfield?

Are you sure you haven't included a wet hire rate in the aircraft properties? If so, then fuel usage won't affect the price, only the time of the flight. I can't reproduce what you're seeing.

2.3 Beta 23/2/2012
Using Plan on a PC if I change between cruise profiles in the 'Flight Details' tab then the total fuel usage and endurance changes, but the cost of the flight does not update.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the quick feedback and update.
Just trying out today's (23/2/2012) beta release and I still feel that the circuit direction arrows (airfield plates) should remain on the screen when zoomed out further. If you look at some airfields with a long and a short runway (e.g. Wyton or Cambridge) when you display the circuit arrows for the long runway and then select a short runway the circuit arrows don't show for the short runway as you are zoomed out too far in order to display the long runway. I thought that this was a bug at first until I realised that you have to zoom into the short runway to display the circuit arrows.
Map panning and zooming seems more responsive now (WinCE device) and I am no longer seeing the map 'accelerate away' from my finger when drag-panning. I guess this was due to the latest optimisation you have just enabled?
I can confirm that all the other bugs (that I have been able to reproduce) reported in this thread to date seem to be fixed.
Obeservation: It looks like the default runway chosen is that closest to track - but maybe (if the info is available) it should be the most into-wind runway?
Great software - thanks.
Simon
