Now that a AHRS By Levil has been made that links to the ipad giving the usual info of a AHRS but also ADSB , I would love to see these integrated into SkyDemon ,I could dream about customizable split screen nav and instruments, now how good would SkyDemon running in the background with AHARS and ADSB overlaid

While we are making progress towards ADS/B integration in SkyDemon, we have no plans to introduce an artificial horizon into the app. It's a planning and navigation app.

ADS-B in SkyDemon?
Oh boy, that sounds too good to be true. This could be the start of a very true love ...

Hi Tim - I am referring to a comment quite some while ago... I am a big (!!) fan of SkyDemon, I connected it with ADSB via Pilotaware, which works great. However, I could see SkyDemon also operating with AHRS, simulating a glass-type display which would be a great addition to your wonderful app... have your plans of extending/upgrading SkyDemon changed in the meantime ? I also use SkyMap and it provides such a functionality, but I don’t wanna change over to SkyMap...

No, we do not intend SkyDemon to be used as a flight instrument and have no plans to implement an artificial horizon.

While I perfectly understand your position about SkyDemon being primarily a planning and navigation app, would it be possible for you to reconsider your position on AHRS-based AI based on evidence that an artificial horizon may - in certain cases - be the last resort when an in-flight emergency arises, and make a difference between life and death? Please check out the excellent video, released on the AQP series by Aviation101, which adresses this very question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOvjGMYQN3YMany thanks for your excellent piece of software! But upon checking I realized the Level function in Measure is gone - anybody any idea why?

WTH did Apple pull it from the iPad, another odditiy like the 'iPad has no calculator' thing?

But an Artificial Horizon is more than just a Level function: it should also give an indication of Altitude (GPS), speed (GPS), as well as pitch and bank. I see it as a HUGE safety feature, and in case of a complete electrical failure in flight (NVFR or unintentional VFR into IMC comes to mind) might really help you get home/land safely. Most of the data is already available to SkyDemon. Austin Meyer of X-Plane wrote an app that helps you get to the ground safely. Unfortunately only available on iOS, it is also able to display TAS (!) and Pressure Altitude... TAS would obviously be a nice touch, since GPS speed is only useful in calm winds.
