I understand that Android 5.1.0 has been released and is due to be pushed out to Nexus devices in the next few days. Hopefully, this will solve the stability problems, but I'm not going to hold my breath...

We have received a hotfix build from our tools provider which they say may fix the (most pressing) Android stability issue.
I regard this build as quite experimental so I haven't updated the beta link on our Android page, but it can be downloaded from the link below.
http://www.skydemon.aero/extras/android/aero.skydemon.skydemonandroid-Aligned.xa5_3.apk
Please, if you're experiencing bad stability problems on Android Lollipop, give the above build a try and let us know how you get on.

Hi Tim,

I have just tried this build (on Nexus with 5.0.2) and on first quick test there seems to be no crash. However I then tried to update the charts and the charts window opens with the spinning 'orb' forever. So I tried logging out and logging in again and after entering my email/password I get a continuous spinning orb again. Is this just a temp problem with your server or a bug in this build?

Simon

Edit: I've since re-installed the last 'released' beta posted on your website and managed to log in again, I then installed the new beta (posted above) and still get the problem with the forever spinning orb in the charts window before it's even populated - so I guess it's not a problem at your end. Pressing 'Continue' closes (unpopulated) the charts window and I'll try to get some testing done today.

Hi Tim,

OK I uninstalled SD completely and then re-installed the new test beta (from the link above). This time I've managed to log in and then get the empty Charts dialog with the ever-spinning orb (presumably because my un-install removed all the charts). Pressing the Continue button on the charts dialog brings up a message window "The charts window cannot be shown at the moment because another window is open". Pressing 'OK' then takes me back to the Welcome screen!

Stuck now - not sure what to try next.

Simon

I've reproduced the issue with the charts window, not sure why it's happening with this hotfix build. Debugging it is proving challenging. In the meantime the best way of testing it for stability is to get your charts sorted with another version, then install the beta over the top of it like you did. If you ignore the charts window problem, how is it for stability?

Hi.
like other people I have been experiencing GPS drop outs and instabiliy problems with my Nexus 7 after the 5.02 update and decided, after a bit of research, to erase the Partition Cache.
I went flying today to test it and the Nexus now seems a lot more stable.

Barry.

Hi Tim,
OK I've done all that and it's still crashing very quickly. Here's the logcat dump:

I also have a dumpsys, dumpstate & logcat dump file but your forum software doesn't seem to be able to cope with uploading it as it's 8Mb. If you'd like a copy let me know and I'll email it to you directly.

Simon

Just been offered 5.1 on my initial Nexus 7. Will test the released version in the car on the way home to see how stable it is.

Has anyone else tried on Android 5.1 yet?

Andy
