Extra time at start of leg

Group: Forum Members Posts: 154, Visits: 445	What is the intended function of setting "Extra time at start of leg" under "Leg properties" in Skydemon Plan? When I do this, the total flight time goes up (as expected), but fuel required remains unchanged and also the ETE for that leg in the PLOG. I'm using Skydemon 3.0.6.0 on a PC.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 154, Visits: 445	I would actually find that quite useful -- but only if the fuel consumption and leg ETE reflected the additional time. I am thinking of things like adding time for traffic circuits, departure/approach procedures which would be a bother to enter using sequences of waypoints etc... I guess a fair number of people are using SD for IFR flight planning and for that you could add the time for an approach procedure to the leg from the IAF to the runway etc.

If someone is holding for aerobatics, for example, that will consume a large amount of fuel compared to regular cruise. I had thought the ETE was updated to take account of extra time; which specific ETE are you looking at? The one on the PLOG?

True, but using the current power setting is better than defaulting to 0. Also, if the fuel consumption is radically different, a different power setting could be set for that individual leg. I had thought the ETE was updated to take account of extra time; which specific ETE are you looking at? The one on the PLOG? I am looking at the ETE in both the PLOG and the Route Plan.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 8.1K, Visits: 9.3K	To attempt to reproduce this, I created a two-leg journey. I gave the second leg 30 minutes of extra time at its start. I observed the total time, at the bottom right of the screen, increased by 30 minutes. I then opened the PLOG and observed the 30 minutes of extra time accounted for in the totals column, and in the cumulative time in the ETA column. What am I doing wrong?

The feature was designed so that you can indicate you're doing something at the waypoint at the beginning of the leg, purely so that we generate a STAY indicator in the VFR flightplan. So I suppose we considered the extra time being in the vicinity of the waypoint, and not as part of the leg itself, which follows as soon as you stop doing whatever you're doing.
