Hi Tim,

i updated the charts last week, and there seems to be some changes specific to France.

All the microlight fields which were previously categorised as such, ie "XXX microlight site" and were displayed with an 'M' in a circle, have now been replaced with the standard "XXX airfield".

Unfortunately, the vast majority of microlight strips in France are private, and non-based aircraft are generally not welcome. It is not possible to distinguish between the 2 types now. This change only seems to apply to France; in Italy and Spain there are still the 2 different types displayed.

Second point; it seems that all the airfields previously categorised as "glider site" have disappeared.

Can this be resolved with another chart update ?

cheers,

Andy.

We have changed the data provider we use for smaller private airfields in France. If you can give me some examples of microlight-only airfields then I will see if there are some criteria we can use to better indicate their status.

In the SE of france all these are private microlight strips.

frejus, cogolin, pourrieres repentance, themes, B. Maure (basse maure), jouques, segries, roquebrune (now disused), cruis.

cheers,

Andy.

Thanks. We're just publishing an updated France chart with better representation of ULM-only airfields.

Hi Tim,

Near Geneva, here are some Microlights Airfields (restricted usage or private usage) showed as classic Airfields
Cervens, Lavours (near Belley), Izenave (near Corlier).

Also, "Habere Poche" glider's airfield (near Cervens) isn't present anymore.

Thanks.

HG

Hello HG,

Cervens and Izenave are both marked as microlight airfields in the latest chart. The Habere Poche glider launching area is still promulgated in the French AIP and it will remain in our data until such time as it is removed.

Regarding Lavours, our data does not indicate it's for ULM only. Do you know differently? If so, I will inform the correct person to get it corrected.

Hi Tim,

Yes, Habère Poche is still "alive" and I hope it will be for long time (I think I did'nt explain correctly...). But I can't find it on last charts.. See attached screenshot, Habère Poche shoud be near Cervens and Bellevaux, and did'nt exist as airfield database (only the village)..
.
Lavours is referenced for Microlight only in "BasULM" and "Navigeo" database (http://www.navigeo.org/LF0125). But may be planes are accepted? You should ask the airfield manager. You can find his phone number in BasULM.

Regards,

HG.

Correct, W is now called PL ( Puyloubier ).

Another remark about reporting points is that there are some standard compulsory reporting points when flying the VFR routes from France mainland to Corsica island, eg LERMA, OMARD, MERLU, LONSU.

In SD, however, these are only visible when the 'show airways reporting points' is enabled, even though they appear on any French VFR navigation chart.

cheers,

Andy.
