Greetings

I just purchased Skydemon to evaluate alongside other iPad-based moving-map apps (Air Navigation Pro, Memory Map). A key requirement for me is to exchange routes in .gpx format between various apps and systems. As such, I was disappointed to discover that the "export via email" option within Skydemon on the iPad does not produce an email-attached .gpx file (only the legacy .flightplan format). This makes it impossible to migrate between apps on the iPad (I would have to go out to Skydemon on a PC, and convert the file there, then re-import etc -- i.e., a non-starter).

So, to the Skydemon developers:

1) Am I missing something in the settings which would enable the .gpx export via email from iPad (if so, apologies, please advise on how to enable) ?

2) If the functionality is indeed missing, may I request that you include it as soon as practical ?

3) In the meantime, can you email me the xslt transform so I may "roll my own" converter accordingly

Thanks in advance !

Greetings

As a follow-up to my previous post, for anyone wishing to easily export their routes from SkyDemon on the iPad, I've created a free web-app that does it for you via the Send by Email interface. The routes are stored (for free) on the cloud, and can be re-imported (again, via email) to SkyDemon on the iPad, or for that matter, to any other GPX-compatible app on any device or operating system.

I've built this interface so I can get the most out of my SkyDemon subscription on my iPad by making it seamlessly compatible with my other tools and apps of choice. Anyone wishing to make use of this facility is free to do so. Just visit this link on my blog for more information and (simple) instructions.

All feedback welcome (via this forum or @Flylogical on Twitter)

We haven't heard much demand for exporting routes in GPX format on the iPad version, in fact I think this is the first instance I've seen. If we receive enough, then I suppose we'll add an option to the save window which will complicate it (undesirable).

The .flightplan format is far from legacy, it's the only format that supports the rich array of flight planning features offered by SkyDemon.

Yes, me too!

Edit 14.06.12: I misinterpreted this one. I wanted to export logs to gpx - which is a feature that is in place.

Yes, I would greatly appreciate a feature allowing me to export flightplans in gpx format!!! And I know several people (e.g., those owning a MGL EFIS) who would join in with me.

Tim,
Yes please, at the moment it is tedious having to re-program the Garmin especially if the waypoints are not in heir database. So a GPX export would be spiffing (via email).

Here's my "me too" post: would love to see export to gpx on the ipad. Without it, it's only half the fun for me. My EFIS (MGL Voyager) can import gpx. I'd be a happy camper if the two could exchange information.
