I've been using Skydemon for a couple of weeks now and think it's a fantastic product.

One issue I have come across is when I plan multiple routes and upload to the GPS, one after the other.

I plan a route (e.g. Fairoaks to Sandown) and save/upload to GPSmap495 OK.
I press "new route" and plan a second leg (e.g. Sandown to Compton Abbas). When I upload, there's no transfer and Skydemon hangs. I have to kill it via Windows Task Manager which takes ages.

This is incredibly frustrating and happens every time.

Can you please look into this ?

Thanks

We've seen this a couple of times before and appears to be an issue specific to the Garmin unit and/or drivers being used. There's nothing we can do from the SkyDemon side of things to make it work, sorry.

I have a 495 and transfer always works fine. If was doing a route Fairoaks, Compton Abbas, Bodmin (say), then I would treat it all as one route even if I landed at CA. What is to be gained from treating it as 2 separate routes. Even so I did 2 routes yesterday each with multiple legs and both transferred OK.

If you describe excatly how you produced such a problem I will try to reproduce and then help figure out a workaround.

Qs

  1. Does each route have just 1 leg?
  2. Do you rename the routes from the ones suggested by SD?
  3. Which Garmin transfer method do you use .. via Setup/Devide connectivity or via Go Flying/Send route?
Cheers

Hi,

I've played around with different ways of transferring routes and had the same issue each time:

Does each route have just 1 leg?
it doesn't seem to make any difference

Do you rename the routes from the ones suggested by SD?
it doesn't seem to make any difference

Which Garmin transfer method do you use .. via Setup/Devide connectivity or via Go Flying/Send route?
it doesn't seem to make any difference

BUT I have found a way to consistently transfer routes, one after the other, from PC to GPSmap495 - unplug the USB cable from the PC and replug between transfers. This way I can transfer routes with multiple legs and renamed as I want each time.

Not ideal but at least it's usable approach.

Any other suggestions would be great!

Thanks.
