A bit of Googling shows that Windy does indeed use GPS along with all other sources if needed so my apologies for that. You learn something every day.

Both my Samsung A9's took a software update this morning (UI. 8 / Android 16) and both ran SD fine on a short flight this afternoon using  the built in 'Location Services'.

All good, I appreciate that you were trying to troubleshoot! More often than not simple troubleshooting resolves such issues.. In this case it doesn't seem to be that simple.

Active Tab 3 is stuck on Android 13/UI 5.1.1 which is the latest supported.

Update - tested again today and GPS is working normally again!

Same issue here with a Samsung ActiveTab 3. Other apps work fine (e.g. windy), so I'm inclined to believe this is an issue with SkyDemon?

I think Windy uses your internet IP address to locate you rather using GPS so you're not going to get a comparison that way.

I have just tested Windy and "find my location".
I am almost 100% sure it uses GPS  as it has pinpointed my location precisely which is in a semi-rural location. I don't think IP addresses are that accurate with regards to pin pointing a specific location.

To clarify further, Windy was just an example, I tried various apps with data turned off, and SkyDemon was the only one that couldn't identify my location.

My Samsung Tab A9 is working SD fine in the UK although it does say 'nil satellites found'. Accuracy using GPS Test was around 13mtrs.

I made sure to disconnect any wifi and data first so it's certainly using GPS.

An interesting reply from Samsung, basically saying it's up to the third party app developers to adapt.
@Skydemon team, will you be releasing an update pertaining to this issue?

Here's Samsung's reply:
"I understand your disappointment and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this situation may cause, but I can confirm that Samsung isn't the one who needs to intervene. From our side, the device is fully compliant, as it works in all its parts and with the default applications.

The fact that this issue occurs across several apps of the same category suggests that there is something specific preventing those apps from operating as expected. The update likely introduced changes to the operating system that the applications now need to adapt to, in order to function properly. Therefore, I can confirm that, in these cases, the developers of the individual apps must release an update compatible with the new system specifications."

FYI, Skydemon finds more than enough satellites, but fails to connect to any ("Waiting for Location Data / 0 out of 38 satellites").
If anyone has a fix, please share.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem with my Samsun Tab A9.
Wiping the cache didn't fix it (neither did reinstalling Skydemon).
We'll probably have to wait for a fix from Samsung...
