Hi, on SD the mandatory visual reporting points are shown with a blue background.

However (in Italy for example, see the following images) the mandatory holding gates, beyond which it is not possible to enter without having obtained authorization from ATC, are shown as normal VRPs (with a white background).

It would be very convenient for planning to see these mandatory holding gates in the same blue color as the mandatory visual report points on SD.

That is a very good point. However, these VRPs for Italy are sourced from the AIP ENR 6.3.1 document, which changes frequently, and (unless I am missing something) that document does not state which VRPs are mandatory and which are not.

Hi Tim, what you write is almost correct, in the sense that these points are actually found in AIP ENR 6.3.1, however the mandatory holding gates are not very many if you consider the entire Italian territory and their use is made explicit in the related AD2 documents at each airport (section 22 - Flight Procedures).

Yes - unfortunately going through all those documents each time the ENR 6.3.1 document changes does not currently fit into our workflow for Italy, sorry. Perhaps AIS will make that information part of the main definition in the future.
