The FPL format requires us to specify the type of waypoint alongside its identifier or name. What type of waypoints are you using? Where do they come from?

Hello !To match identifier format restriction to 5 characters max, this field is derived in FPL file from first 4 characters of waypoint name + an incremental number rather than ident. Typically waypoint name is a full description eg. for a VFR one in VAC Chart (here LFPT) : « Château d’eau de Bercagny » and ident is usually short eg « NW ». Currently waypoint in FPL will be named CHÂT4It would be more interesting to use ident (eg NW) in FPL for waypoint identifier rather than full name.

I would like to reactivate this post : I recently uploaded a FPL file in Garmin from SD containing special characters in names, and this finally skipped the waypoint in flight plan !
Again, using identifier when exists instead of waypoint name for FPL export would allow to secure and simplify FPL export.
Thanks !
