To match identifier format restriction to 5 characters max, this field is derived in FPL file from first 4 characters of waypoint name + an incremental number rather than ident. Typically waypoint name is a full description eg. for a VFR one in VAC Chart (here LFPT) : « Château d’eau de Bercagny » and ident is usually short eg « NW ». Currently waypoint in FPL will be named CHÂT4 It would be more interesting to use ident (eg NW) in FPL for waypoint identifier rather than full name.
