Hi
Is there a way to improve the representation of the road network in South Africa (not sure about other regions eg. in Europe)?
For example, on the below image the N1 highway - the longest highway in SA connecting Johannesburg and Cape Town - ends unceremoniously in a field 30 km outside Johannesburg.  Labelling major roads and/or applying colour for major roads would also be very helpful.
Highways and highway intersections are very useful in flight planning.

Cheers
Andrew

I agree our scenery data for southern Africa is very basic. At some point this year we will endeavour to locate a source of up-to-date vector scenery data for South Africa. In the meantime if you know of such a product, do let us know.

Thanks Tim - I don't know much about sources or formats, but do know that most of the freeware/opensource flight-planning tools seem to use OpenStreetMaps:  looks like full planet data is avail here:

Cheers

Thank you Andrew for this post. i fly a lot around Johannesburg, using the N1,N3, N14 highways as a reference becomes very difficult, just to mention a few of these highways.

We located some data but were not encouraged by its spacial accuracy. I'll continue to check it out over the next couple of weeks but it may not be suitable.

I've got some trial data that we're going to include in this Thursday's chart update. Could you take a look at it and give feedback once it's out?
