Hi Tim and SD Staff,

thank you for including German GAFOR areas into SD. One thing I miss is the possibility to get detailed information on the respective areas. If you touch and hold you get some info on the area but it is only short text (see attachment). It would be nice to be able to click this field and get detailed info or maybe see info about crossed areas in the weather tab. Or is there another possibility I didn't see?

Exactly what details were you hoping to see?

It would be useful to see the exact code like M8 instead of M only. Furthermore it would be nice to have the code decoded in plain text (M8: VIS 1.5-5 km CEIL 500-1000ft) within the "What's here"-Window for those who don't know the codes by heart.

At present we have integrated the German GAFOR data into our existing GAFOR system, which means German-proprietary extras (like the numbers) are not part of the data available in SkyDemon. Going forward we will review which proprietary parts we take and how we displayed them, after the feature has had a chance to become familiar with people.

Ok. I didn't know the numbers are proprietary. It would be nice if you could integrate it later to make this useful tool even more useful. Thank you

Exactly what I meant. At the moment the text boxes are quite useless and in fact I tried to open them...

The inspection text has been revised for the next version so it no longer runs off the edge. There aren't any new details visible, though, just the existing details made more clear. You'll see the three states displayed graphically explained in the text, that's the idea.

They're available in 3.6.6 just the same as they are in our iOS and Android versions.

Why do the GAFOR codes disappear at chart scales above 1m?

Looking at GAFOR codes along the whole route makes life easier. When zoomed to 1m only a distance of about 100 miles even on a 9.7" iPad can be seen.

I would vote for GAFOR codes to be seen up to much bigger scales, about 3-5m would be fine.

Because in other countries, showing the GAFOR timeslice labels at 2m clutters the map to an unacceptable extent; they end up overlapping each other. We have to make SkyDemon work for all countries, which sometimes prohibits country-specific optimisation.

The GAFOR area feature is still new and it will improve over time. I would like to show the labels at 2m scale but it will require some layout work before we toggle that switch.
