If you are more familiar with the IOS environment & the hefty price tag is a non issue - go for the Ipad. Features are quite similar, but keep in mind to buy the celular device, otherwise you need an external GPS. Overheating is still a problem, but not isolated to SD only. I can hardly remember a flight in summer and/or in the southern Europe having log files in one piece out of an Ipad/Ipad mini, probably a non issue as you can merge 'em later. Android on the other hand was prone to drop outs in the past, but has stabilized a lot at least on my devices. User experience is a bit jerkyer & loading georeferenced charts is still 'a pain in the a......' often requiring 10 sec. + Ensure to buy at least 2 Ghz & 2 Gigs RAM, because you will need it. AMOLED display is always recommended for screen brightness.
