Love the new version! Coast seems a lot better, I like the increased ground map detail, the new print manager is wonderful, the winds aloft feature is superb (can you feel the 'but' coming!!)

I installed the latest release last week and today loaded SkyDemon mobile (after playing hunt the install button for 10 minutes!) to my GPS.

When I fired up SD mobile it found my UK chart straightaway and started loading it. 'Good' I thought, saves me force loading it from SD mobile chart manager.

I checked Chart manager anyway and noted it hadn't loaded the France charts so I force loaded them.

I then restarted SD mobile, and as it started up it gave a message 'loading UK chart'. With a bad feeling, I checked the chart manager. Sure enough, the France chart was no longer loaded. Whilst it's a simple process to load the charts manually each time I start up, it does take quite  long time for the device to load them, so that now starting up SD mobile takes about 2 minutes altogether (for both charts) instead of around 15 seconds on the last version (where once the charts had been forced they were immediately available once the software started).

Is there something I've missed?

Force-loaded charts have never been saved from one run of SkyDemon to the next, and we haven't changed the way chart loading works at all in the 2.0 version.

In SkyDemon Mobile a chart is only loaded when you're within the coverage of the chart, or are flying rapidly towards it. This is the way it's supposed to be, and it should be relatively unusual to need to force-load a chart. If you're sitting in the UK and your GPS has a fix, the UK chart will be loaded. I'm not clear why you're force-loading it.

I had that as well. Whiles I am waiting for confirmation if the new Go7100 is cabable i wanted to install skydemon on my Tytn2 phone again.



When syncing the phone it could not find an installation. Therefore I copied the infligh folder to the device. Afterwards Skyplan found the device and updated, copied the license and also weather etc. However it did not copy any chart data.



Upon starting it always said "No Chart data"

ok 2nd attempt.



- I deleted everything on the PDA and copied it again into a folder called "Skydemon" --> still saying "Chart not loaded", however it syncs fine and copies the license. Maps still would not load or show in the mobile Chart list



- I manually copied "W020N90.DEM" onto the SD card -->restarting Skydemon is now said "loading world data".

Once the GPS was running it showed the terrain level but no chart. The message "Chart not loaded" still showed.

The map only showed userwaypoints etc, but nothing else



So really I am not sure what else to do. The manual on Skydemon is outdated for Version 2 and the Mobile installer does not

exist anymore.

Tim will give definitive info. But meanwhile, I wd do as follows:

• Format SD card so start with absolutely clean card - full not quick format
• Install SkyDemon from Setup menu
• Sync card

All should be well with UK map xferred. No promises though!

Syncing does not install charts. Installing SkyDemon Mobile installs charts. Go to Setup -> Device Connectivity Options to install SkyDemon Mobile. If you're trying to manually copy files yourself it's just guesswork; let the installer do it for you (it will install all charts that are loaded in SkyDemon Plan). Hopefully this will work.

1st, sorry for dragging this one to the top so late on, I've been away for a while.

Sorry if this was a red herring, I think that probably the newer charts are loading more slowly on the newer (and slower) device that I've started using recently. I'll certainly take your word for it!

 

 

I'm force loading charts because if I want to see weather stations on my route (I.E. Sitting in Le Touquet, wanting to see the TAFs and METARs for my whole route in France and the UK), the only way I can see them is to force load the UK chart. I can't even add (for example) Manston to the list of weather stations, because when the French chart is the only one loaded, I can only add French weatherstations. 

 

(I'm using this on a phone BTW, so can pick up NOTAMS/TAFs/METARs from a loaded route. Or rather, I can't, if the route crosses charts)

Can anyone help please. Despite loading charts through the setup - device connectivity menu, I can only install one chart onto my generic Chinese GPS device. ie France or UK, but not both. Memory is being reported as 76mB with 117mB Free. Am I doing anything stupid?

Using Windows explorer can you see the chart for France & Uk on the SD card? Also when you go to charts in SD mobile do you see both?

If yest to the latter, what happens when you try to force load an extra chart (say France). My guess is the software crashes  .. as a number of us have found. One workaround is to uncheck display of roads & rivers. This takes less memory.

If the charts are not put on the card during sync process (and you have asked that they are synced) then I think there is a manual way of transferring them but have never had to do it.
