Hi

Here is the file. Open with notepad and I use a DPI value on 8410 of 120. Alter it. Save somehwere that you can find it and then save to the Skydemon dirrectory on your card.

Alternatively, I suspect its already on the card as I think the native value is 100 and you must have larger number if the menu is "off the screen". Open the file as above and amend. save it.

David

Hello Pink Leader,Thanks for your help some time ago with the S/D software for the navigon 8410

I have not been able to find my routes on the navigon and I think it is because the routes selection is off the top of my screen. how do I find the Device XML file to reduce the font size and hopefully get the routes selection on screen. I have looked but with out success. I hate computors but can't live without them!

Look in the device.xml file and reduce the dpi setting by say 10 and see what happens. My back button on 8410 is partially visible and so can be used.

Some problems with the Navigon 8410:

The following scenario:

1. Rotate screen

2. Go to Route --> Route Editor: after choosing this, it is not possible to go back, since the "back" button

appears outside the screen. Any ideas to go back?

I tried to use the power button (for a short period) and turning ait back on. The image is scrambled after.

I have to shut down the device totally to recover. This is not favourable during flight.

Re 8410

It has a screen brightness of 400 NITS and if you look elsehwere on forums like PocketFMS you will see that its recognised as the brightest of winCE devices.

I also have the aware device which is less bright but pretty usable. For reference ipad is about 300-350NITS. It is noticably less bright than 8410.

Do not know data for other Navigon.

Cheers

Noe that I have found. BUT, if you click the on/off button once it puts into suspend mode. Another click brings it to life immediately. To turn off completely, hold off switch till screen goes blank.

Hi Pink Leader

Thanks for the info and nice to know it was not me as thought I may have not loaded some file or similar. Yes I have set 125 in the device file as the best for me. The brightness of the Navigon is great improvement over a 7 inch unit

I also have another question and again not a major problem, but when  using SD is there a way to set the unit to switch off or sleep when the external power is removed, as it does in road navigation mode? Otherwise I can see me leaving it on and draning the battery as am used to Garmin devices in both car and plane that do switch on and off with the master?

Regards
