I'd like to see, the route I prepare in planning mode, in Google Earth, in the same way today it's possible to see a flight log.
It would be very useful to study the route and the landscape you'll find once in flight.

Thanks for your suggestions. It would be however easier to have this option embedded in SD (in a menu). It's just a command line to insert in the source code.

I am planning a route in mountainous terrain, and I also would love to get a 'google earth track/route' of my planned route ahead. This would make VFR flight familiarization so much easier.

I saved to route to GPX and imported it in Google Earth, however, it seems that the elevation of my waypoints is set to the GND elevation and not to the elevation of my planned route. This makes this feature much less useful than I hoped it would be.

Am I doing anything wrong? Is there a way to get a useful Google Earth/GPX of my planned route, including planned altitude?

Hello,

‌‌Is there any news since the last post of Daniel. I would also be interested to see the elevation in the exported gpx file to be used in Google earth based on the planned altitude.

Is there a way‌‌ to do so ?

Thanks a lot in adv‌‌ance.

Same countes for me. Is there any news? It would be very useful, especially planing routes above the alps! I really miss this important feature.

Maybe SD wants to have a look, how this should work:

http://fl95.de/index.php

look for "Laden/Speichern/Drucken" and
then "3D Ansicht in GoogleEarth"‌‌

This is not a very popular request, so it's not on our development list at the moment.

Pointing us to other software which does implement the feature does not help.

Hi, I was looking for the same feature and after reading this post found a way to do it with the current version of SkyDemon.

Step1: Save your route as a GPX file (Route->Save As with GPX as file type).
Step2: Open Google Earth and do a File-‌>Open on the saved route (check all checkboxes in the open dialog).

The route is drawn flat on the ground, because the altitude info in the GPX file obviously is SkyDemon proprietary, but
I like it anyways. Hope this helps.
