Hi,
I am a new user, apologies if this question does not make sense or has been answered before - I have looked in the FAQ and briefly through this forum but did not find a solution.
I registered today and started planning a flight on my Windows PC using Internet Explorer. I changed some settings (home airfield, map options) and at some point stopped planning. I then downloaded the app on my iPhone and found that it did not remember any of my settings. So I re-entered home airfield, continued to play around and at some point switched to my MacBook. Starting the web planning in Safari I again found that settings were reset to defaults (home airfield and other adjustments gone).
How can I make my settings persistent so that they are automatically available on any device I use SkyDemon?
Thanks!

Best way of sharing settings across platform is to use the Save Settings To Cloud and Retrieve Settings From Cloud options in the SETUP menu.

Thanks! Found it in the app, will look for it in the web client.
My expectation would be that this is done automatically whenever a setting is changed. Is there a reason for the current behavior?

The reason for the current behaviour is that the behaviour you are expecting is actually quite a lot of work to implement, and it hasn't appeared very high on our list of things to do.

Thanks for the reply! I think it would be great if it would be implemented. I haven't quite figured out my final workflow yet (lots of learning at the moment) but I was thinking of SkyDemon as a window into my flight plan. My expectation was that any change in plan or settings would immediately be mirrored on all devices.
I was also confused by the need to actually save a plan. It seems that SkyDemon works very much transaction-oriented with explicit saving or publishing of the data.
To get back to the settings: I did not find the option to save or load settings in the Web client (Windows, Internet Explorer). Where is it located?

I'm not sure our web software has that option, actually. Our full software (for PC, iOS and Android) does under the Setup menu. I don't know about transaction-based; SkyDemon works with planned routes which are saved into files. Of course you can have a library full of planned routes.

Well, I agree that different settings for planning and flying make sense. I don't think it contradicts with automatic synchronization. The way I approached it is the following:
I currently do everything paper-based. I look on the charts, draw my lines, calculate courses, speed, etc. Whenever I do a modification, it is instant and persistent - if I change a leg and adjust my course and speed details, they are changed. I expected SkyDemon to do the same: I changed a leg in the browser application and when I was satisfied I closed the browser and logged in on my iPhone. The iPhone showed an empty plan. Only then did I find out that I have to load plans and that the loaded plan was not what I worked on last but what I explicitly saved - so my browser changes were lost.

Hi,
I just wanted to raise the sync issue and found the thread from yesterday.
While a complete automatic sync would be greatly appreciated I would at least expect a single point of sync. Right now you have to sync Settings, Routes, Logs, Planes separately. If you uses different devices you can easily get lost and loose/overwrite data...
So a simple "Save to Cloud" and "Open from Cloud" would already make things much much more easier.

When you've worked on a route and are finished with it, save it to the cloud. When you want to open it for use on any other device, open it from the cloud. It's as simple as that.
