Thanks Tim and thanks for the software update for the Intel Atom processor tablets. SkyDemon now stable and working fine.

Best regards

As an update to this thread, I should mention that the latest public version of SkyDemon now includes native x86 support which makes SkyDemon very stable and faster on devices with x86 processors.

We do not know of any bug in SkyDemon which systematically affects stability across a broad range of devices.

Isolated crashing is still a problem of course but it's much more likely to be down to a specific device. If there are any crash logs available we would happily take a look at them, of course.

Tonimarconi (5/20/2015)

I have the same problem with a Nexus 7 tablet (2013). This tablet has a quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro-processor.
Previous year i had no problems with Skydemon, however since this year the app regularly crashes especially when circling (glider). Skydemon just shuts down and i have to restart it. Maybe its because of an Android update or Skydemon update.
Any more Nexus 7 users who have this problem?

It's too early to say at the moment. We may be able to produce a build designed to work on these tablets without an emulation layer but we'd need to research it first.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your reply. Looking on the web I notice that a lot of the newer Tablets coming onto the market are now using Intel's Atom Processor whereas the older Tablets used the ARM. Will that mean that more and more of the newer Tablets coming out will not be able to use SkyDemon?

I have a Tesco Hudl2 which has similar problems with randomly closing Skydemon and I just checked - it too has an Atom processor.  Annoying if there isn't likely to be any sort of fix

Hello Roger,
We have no specific knowledge of the tablet you mention. However if it has an unusual processor type then that might explain any stability problems you have observed. Most Android tablets have ARM processors and it's our understanding that the few exceptions feature emulation layers so they pretend to be ARM compatible. Anecdotally, we have heard that most complex or demanding apps do not run well in this situation. It's not that the apps have bugs, per se, it's more that the environment isn't giving them what they need to run properly.
Personally I don't know how they can even sell these devices, when they obviously struggle so much to run the apps people are going to want to run on them.
