Well, at least he can select the "sensitivity" of TerrainSafe. From the point of cleaning up the structure of user configurable settings, I would also combine Terrain Warning and TerrainSafe into one concept. You specify clearance levels (vertically and horizontally) and then you select whether to display a warning or shade the map. Conceptually they are one thing which provides me with information about dangerous proximity to terrain. They ought to be settable in one place. Currently, Terrain Warning is settable from "Setup>Navigation Options" (iPad) while TerrainSafe can be switched on/off at "Setup/Mapping" while in flight mode only. The "Mapping" menu when in planning mode does not offer the switch to turn on TerrainSafe.

Again, I suggest to put the TerrainSafe switch (maybe labeled "Show on map") together with the Terrain Warning settings. Its function would be to shade all terrain red from which my vertical clearance is less than the setting specified by "Vertical Terrain Clearance". I would also include a yellow "caution" shading to terrain with up to 500 feet more vertical clearance. The 500 ft could be hard coded to keep things simple.

Greetings, -- Chris.

I don't think that would necessarily help DirDej though because he wants to get rid of the yellow altogether.

It's going to be difficult to have a "one size fits all" solition to this. Currently there is a Terrain Warning setting with adjustable height and lateral distance settings. And there is the TerrainSafe feature which you can only turn on or off. Why not have the height setting of the Terrain Warning also determine the red shadedpart of the TerrainSafe feature. The yellow part could then just be a fixed number of feet (e.g., 500 ft) below the red setting.

Yes, I mean the Terrainsafe feature which is very nice by itself.
Only, when flying at a planned altitude of say 1400 ft QNH, with terrain up to about 300-400ft, it will show Yellow or Orange most of the flight. In this case, one would be tempted to turn Terrainsafe off, negating its value. Sometimes I want it to show only Red ( 500ft or less clearance over terrain), less than 100ft or so might warrant blinking Red.
1500 ft QNH is certainly a commonly used altitude for VFR flights, not requiring constant Yellow Terrainsafe. It really depends on the area, in the Alps I certainly want my 1500ft warning, in the Low Countries, 500ft would be good enough.

Too many alarms are not good either, they dilute the value.

When you refer to terrain warning do you mean the TerrainSafe feature, where terrain is coloured differently based on its relative level? We wouldn't have the colours flash; there is an actual terrain warning which should pop up if you get too close.

Flew with new version on Android yesterday.

Terrain warning is very nice. May I suggest a way to select the sensitivity, for example, if I plan a flight at 1500ft, I don't want to see yellow all the time, only orange and red. Also could red become flashing if within say 3NM and terrain above aircraft altitude (or 250ft below aircraft)?

PLOG is very nice too, I would simplify the navaids display to show only name, ident and frequency. Other details only when pressed. Nearest FIS should be displayed separately from tower freqs, prominently on top.
