Where to keep my Nexus 7 whilst flying?

I strap my Nexus 7 to my kneeboard so a quick glance down is all I need to view the map.  However, in the last few flights SD has lost my position, claiming "waiting for location data", which in a C172 surprised me as the large windscreen rarely blocks the view of the sky.  On Friday I flew from Rochester to Panshangar with an uninterrupted track on SD, but the return flight was interrupted 4 times by loss of GPS.  I can't believe that travelling NW is better for GPS than travelling SE, so I'm assuming there is something wrong with where I keep the device in-flight.

All this is a long-winded way of me asking you fellow Nexus 7 owners where you put the device when flying?  Do you keep it on your knee, or mount it on the yoke, dash, or somewhere else?

Dave
