We will add an option in the next version to turn user waypoints on and off, and see if that helps.

Waypoint management is an issue for me too, see this thread: http://forums.skydemon.aero/Topic12962.aspx
As a very minimum I would hope for a simple toggle switch in the map options to toggle user waypoints on or off (just like you can toggle roads, railways, rivers, .... on or off).

I agree that would be a potential solution, though technically it would be a pain. The trouble is, it's not clear how many people are using the file-based method of importing user waypoints and how many just use the cloud. The fact there are two ways of doing it is undesirable, and will be the subject of some corrective action in the future I think.

Tim, what about this possible solution:

As of now you can add your own custom waypoints by putting them in a file. How about allowing multiple such user created files, each containing waypoints which the userr can turn on and off on a per file basis? There would have to be a menu in the mapping setup which says "display user waypoints", opening up to a submenu showing all custom waypoint files which I can check or uncheck.

We're still considering it. Unfortunately glider turn points are not well published for other countries, so it would mean introducing a UK-specific mapping option, which we try to stay away from.
Turning on and off user waypoints as a whole wouldn't solve the actual problem (which is that of wanting to turn BGA turn points on and off) as I mentioned above. At least, that's how we see it.

Having used Skydemon over the summer for both gliding and power, this continues to be a nuisance. Are you still considering incorporating the BGA turnpoints into the charts (and presumably allowing them to be hidden)? Failing that are you still adamant that user waypoints should not be a hideable item?

Well it would be an acceptable compromise for me, especially as I don't actually have any user waypoints of my own at the moment. But your proposal to fully integrate BGA turnpoints (and presumably then be able to show/hide them?) would be splendid.

It isn't, as of the next version Smile

The thing you have asked for - the ability to turn user waypoints on and off - would not solve the problem you just outlined. Unless you'd be happy with your own waypoints disappearing at the same time as the BGA turnpoints? It sounds like you might be better served by another potential idea we have, which is to properly integrate glider turnpoints into our charts rather than having them as a separate download.

Thanks Tim, but with respect I think that assumption is incorrect. I am interested in the BGA turnpoints if I am gliding, but not otherwise. I can imagine other scenarios. Surely it would not add signficant clutter to include this as an item in the otherwise comprehensive "mapping" drop-down?

Following your own reasoning, why is it possible to globally show / hide airfields in an aviation nav app?

Yes. We assume that if people don't want to see a set of user waypoints, they won't load them.
