Just upgraded to SD v1.4 and all works fine in Plan. However, on updating my Mobile version I get the message "Evaluation Version - Limited to 30 minutes running" when it starts up. I have licenses for both Plan and Mobile until March 2011, the license files appear to have been copied across to the SD Mobile route directory but don't seem to be getting picked up by the application.



Also, on clicking "Continue" I get a blank screen with the message "No Charts Loaded", even though the UK chart has been uploaded to the device.



What am I doing wrong?

Hi MFC,



I cannot help you with your licensing problems. However, with regards to the "No Charts Loaded" message, SkyDemon now loads the appropriate chart when it gets a GPS signal to reduce boot up time. You can manually load the chart without a GPS signal by opening Chart Manager on the device and selecting 'load' from the options.

Regarding the licensing situation, just log in to this website (customer area) and download your activation key to your PC. Then run the SkyDemon Mobile installer to get the key on to the device and all will be well.

We changed the activation mechanism a couple of versions back to make it simpler (!) and you shouldn't have to do this again until you choose to renew your subscription.

Another way to deal with the licensing on mobile SD is to install via the PC installer to your card and THEN sync the card with your PC. This loads the license file. Then you dont have to keep track of various license files.

Richard - was aware of how to load a chart but was surprised that when I only have the one chart on my device that it was not auto-selected by default.



Pink - did that already and it did not work.



Tim - did as you suggested and everything is now good. Strange how I have kept my SD Plan and Mobile up to date all year and you say this license change came in a few versions ago, yet until now it has always worked fine. As I mentioned above with Richard, could it be possible that if SD Mobile has only one chart available on the device that this is loaded by default when the software starts? I would have thought that most users only fly VFR within the bounds of a single chart and so, like me, only have the one available on the device for most of the time.

Tim - help pls!!  I discovered the same problem today (just before setting out to fly).  I've replaced old licence file with new one downloaded today and followed your advice but still I only get Eval version on mobile (and Aware unit).  I've even tried installing on a new SD but same applies. What next?  I'm off to fly now otherwise it'll be dark!

Either the file you placed on there was an old one, or you placed the file in the wrong folder, or your account doesn't have a mobile license. Simple as that! Get in touch via email if you're still stuck, sending us the activation key you're tring to use, and we'll find out which case it is.

Tim, I too have just upgraded to 1.4.2 and now got the eval licence on my mobile unit. Downloaded new licence key and run the install mobile again and it's stuck on eval and won't go away..

A bit more info. I deleted the mobile app completely and reinstalled - still shows the evaluation version. Deleted the licence file and the unregisted file and did an upgrade. New licence file appeared but still loaded as eval version and created an unregistered file. Deleted and reinstalled to version 1.4 and came back licenced..so I recon there's an issue with 1.4.2 recognising the licence file?

I have exactly the same problem with the 1.4.2 license, also no SkyDemon folder is added to the 'start' menu on installation.
