Don't see why you would need (or in a lot of cases, be able to get) a 3G signal when aloft.
All it'll need that for is downloading maps, weather, NOTAMs etc. Do all that on the ground with it tethered to your phone.

No because it already has an in-built GPS. 3G may be useful to update enroute weather etc but not essential for navigation.
As I understand it only the ipad has the problem of the wifi only version having no in-built GPS, but even then an external GPS can be used (although only a few are compatible with ipad and are quite expensive).

After downloading, I get a "problem parsing the package" message.
Am I being too ambitious trying it on a Galaxy S?

Works well and looks good on my Galaxy S3, I've noted a fault whereby if you hide the virtual radar it crashes, plus a couple of observations via the feedabck form. Will be easier to cockpit mount than the iPad for sure.

Thanks for this, You've just made up my mind to buy a Nexus7, thank god I didn't have to fork out 500 bucks for an I pad!
Would appreciate some pics/tips on how to mount it on a flexwing (specifically a GT-450).
Cheers

Does your device meet the minimum requirements (in particular the Android OS must be at least 3.2)
- wikipedia says it never had any official release beyond 2.3.
You could try Cyanogenmod, but I think you may end up in a world of pain running 4.x with only 512MB of RAM.
