If you press what’s here anywhere there is airspace, you get the nice graphical vertical presentation of elevation and airspace, so as well as showing you airspace a quick press of what’s here gives you the ground elevation in a nice format.

However when flying in a Class G area with no other airspace, the vertical graph is not shown, and to get the elevation requires another fiddly press on the location which does give the ground elevation amongst the info.

Personally I’d prefer if the vertical graph was always in what’s here, to show ground elevation , even if there is no airspace. Can’t see any downside?

The downside is that it takes up quite a lot of room on the screen, for a presentation without any airspace, which is the primary reason for that stack.

The elevation is shown because it costs nothing to do so when there's already a graphical airspace stack being shown.

The tip of your finger is not very precise, and in mountainous terrain there could be a variation of thousands of feet inside that fingertip. I would be interested to know what you'd like to do with the elevation figure you see in that stack.

Pretty simple, to check the elevation, which can sometimes be useful. Certainly more useful more often than the longitude/latitude that does pop up on the initial screen. If you’re reasonably zoomed in I think the finger is precise enough. Just found it a little odd that it is given to you when flying under airspace, but not when under cloud in class g.

Would it be possible to display the elevation profile in its steepest form and show the elevation above its highest point in order to see the minimum elevation above ground level and/or only display it from a certain zoom level?
This would at least provide some certainty about the current flight altitude above ground level.

Rainer, if you want to know your height above ground level, touch the altitude instrument to switch it to height mode.

Norland, you make a good point about there being a lat/long reading on that screen. We'll add the elevation next to that, and see if that helps.
