Hi everyone.
I have been thinking very often that in case of serious PAN or MAYDAY (ie Engine trouble or shutdown) it would be incredibly useful that the program would show the most suitable airports/aerodromes to land based on instant calculus of Glide range, wind, meteo, etc.
So by incorporating a PANIC BUTTON in the software a pilot would have at a glance the best suitable options based on all the parameters involved so he/she can take sound choices based on true quick analysis. I think it would be an invaluable feature in SD

Is there a possibility to have this feature incorporated in the future?

We've thought about this potential "panic button" a number of times over the years, but we are not convinced that in the event of an emergency, the pilot will really want to reach for a button in SkyDemon and pin their hopes on what it tells them. Could you list all the information you'd like to see in this potential screen?

Isn't a long press on the Skydemon orb already doing this?
You get your home field and other fields close to you listed. If you then select a field, the route changes and you are informed about the direct course to the field. Finally the frequency pops up in the right part of the virtual radar.

One could think of additionally showing the first 5 fields in the map for selection in a yellow ring, but that could already be too much info and distraction.

How often will you flying high enough above ground level that there will ever be a realistic choice of more than one or two airfields in gliding range to choose from?

If the engine stops, a quick glance at the glide range ring will show whether any are achievable. If it’s an urgent, but not an engine out or fire situation, pressing the orb is probably good enough.
