Hello,

I think it will be very nice to launch Canadian charts as they have published informations of their airports online, we can find airspaces with their coordinates (which is normally what we need to build up charts) with frequencies and a lot of other great stuffs to help us create this map...

Can you tell me how can I help you doing this ? I'm really really really interested in helping other pilots that wants this chart

See you and happy landings Hehe

We have not really looked at creating a Canada chart yet. If there is good availability of electronic data for airspaces and airfields, then that would make it very easy for us to automate much of the process. Can you point us to such data?

Hello, for sure I can.

Here is a document issued by navcanada which is responsible for the publication of such informations.

http://www.navcanada.ca/ContentDefinitionFiles/Publications/AeronauticalInfoProducts/DAH/DAH_current_EN.pdf

Informations over the airports are freely available there :

If you need any help, I can bring it to you, I have some skills in programming and really proud to help others pilots Wink

Thanks, but unfortunately it is not possible to automate extraction of digital airspace data, or digital aerodrome data, from those PDFs. We would need a machine-readable source of data in order to construct a SkyDemon chart. I am sure such a source must exist somewhere.

No; digital airspace and aerodrome data is stored in many kinds of different format by different countries and organisations. We are able to take data in any documented format and convert it for use in our charts though.

I Would think that there is a contact at Nav Canada (or possibly Transport Canada) who can assist as they liase already with Garmin and ForeFlight.

I for one really like this product when I flew in the UK and with it's ability for worldwide charts I would imagine that there would be a sales opportunity to Canadian and US pilots.

Do a search for "ELECTRONIC AERONAUTICAL DATA DISTRIBUTORS" as a number of suppliers are already on it.

Can I awake this thread, and ask if there are now plans. I note that there are several websites such as SkyVector or VFR charts which seem to have Canada coverage in an online format.
