Nexus 7 Android 5.0.2, SkyDemon 3.2.1.22629
No more crashes! Brilliant well done and thank you.
I still cannot get the context menu for waypoints in the live PLOG to appear.

On a flight Saturday I had at least 4 dropouts during a 78 min flight, This morning decided to test via simulator, would never run more than 1-2 minutes before dropout. This on Nexus 2013 running Lollipop 5.0.2. Later this afternoon a new SD version was downloaded automatically and this seems to be rock steady on simulator (tested one hour).
Meanwhile, my second Android device, a Lenovo Yoga2 10" tablet running Kitkat 4.4.2 and SD 3.2.1.22629 is absolutely rock steady since day 1. This tablet has a great autonomy, lasting easily 35 hours or more between charges. It also exists in an 8" version. In my cockpit 10" is slightly too large, the Nexus 7 is perfect size when used in kneeboard mode.

The ongoing issue is one of SkyDemon stability on older devices running Android 5.x. The latest public version (3.2.1) includes workarounds to make it much more stable under these conditions than the previous public version (3.2.0) but the underlying issue remains. We've been working with our tools provider to identify the specific issue and what can be done about it. For the technically minded, it's down to the way garbage collection (specifically weak references) work under the ART runtime. We hope to soon have a new experimental beta with very verbose logging, which affected people will be able to run to send the diagnostic information we need back to us. Many devices, including our general development Nexus 7 in the office, appear unaffected (inexplicably). Still, we'd recommend people don't upgrade their Android operating system at this point. I wouldn't do anyway, personally, as all it seems to have done to our own device is slow it down (irrespective of SkyDemon).

I very rarely use the simulator but just over a week ago I flew round the Pembrokeshire coast and I was getting all the problems that have been reported - I've got a post on the subject below. So, yes I was getting the problems but not on the simulator; I now don't get them on the simulator but have not flown with it (horrid weather today).

PeterGristwood (2/10/2015) ...My feeling is that the issue is Nexus 7 related and not SD...It's not specifically a Nexus 7 problem, but a problem with the Android Lollipop code. I also have SD on my HTC One phone which, fortunately, is still running Android KitKat, and I have had no problems whatsoever with any public release of SD, including the latest one.

Looking forward to the new release.
Last Sunday was a disaster with SD dropping out 4 times in less than 1 hour. At one point although it was still showing the route, it froze for around 10 minutes. Not a problem in Sunday's viz, but until the Nexus/SD issues are resolved I can't rely on the tablet working.
My feeling is that the issue is Nexus 7 related and not SD, so will be looking to borrow someone elses to check

That's good news. Would you have seen problems with simulating that flight before the latest version?
Cheers

SD 3.2.1.22629 Android 5.0.2
I have just installed the new version on my Nexus 7, as above, and run a simulation from Eaglescott to Bodmin via Buckfastleigh and St Austell followed by a return direct to Eaglescott. I'm happy to be able to write that it has run with no problems.

That was going to be my question - I'm fortunate enough to still be on 4.4, but the tablet keeps prompting me to upgrade. I'll leave it until there is a resolution.....

adhawkins (2/10/2015) Not sure if it's particularly helpful, but another data point perhaps. I flew with my original Nexus 7, upgraded to 5.0.2 and SkyDemon dropped back to home screen a number of times during the flight.
I see a new version was distributed a day or two ago. Does this attempt to fix this issue, or is it just a 'regular' release?
Andy
This is an ongoing problem with Android Lollipop, NOT SkyDemon, which is unlikely to be fixed until Google get their act together and release a fix. The SD team, together with their tools provider, have been doing their best to find a 'workaround' with the release of various beta's and experimental releases, but to no avail. I've installed the latest public release of SD and I'm still getting random crashes.
