That's exactly what it will do. It just doesn't prompt to change the installation folder at present.

Ah, so the updates will stay at the location the current program is installed at? That means I could make sure my current installation is where I want it to be and then simply update, and it remains there. Good.

That seems like a workable compromise although I really don't understand why you are so reluctant letting the user change the installation path if he so desires.

Um. It doesn't.  
It now default installs to C:/Program Files/SkyDemon whereas previous installations were to C:/Program Files/Divelements Limited/SkyDemon. Hence my earlier comment. 

There hasn't been an update to SkyDemon since we changed installer technology. That the new installer installs to a different place than the default place of the previous installer is not in dispute.

It wasn't absolutely clear to me that Chris had realised that, so it might have been in dispute!

I guess I am still not clear what the new installer does or does not do.

I have my current SD installation at a specific location which I specified during installation (thanks to the installer's possibility to let me choose the path). When I install the upgrade with the new installer, will it honor the previous location and install the updated version in the same location where the old version resides?

If I install the new version and afterwards manually move it to a new location, will the next update install itself to that new location where i manually moved the previous version?

I think that a proper installer ought to honor the user's wish. It ought to install the update in exactly the place where the previous version resided (or give the user a chance to specify where he wants the program to go).

I agree, but why does it have to be an 'either or'? Why not both? You might wish to change your chosen default location at sometime in the future.

The Windows convention is to offer installation to a default location, which can be accepted, or changed, which is what I would expect from SD.

Actually, I don't understand why the majority of programs does it right (just as you describe) and what works all of them doesn't work for SD. Almost as if SD users were a particularly computer illiterate bunch ....
