The Windows convention is to offer installation to a default location, which can be accepted, or changed, which is what I would expect from SD.
Exactly. The suggestion I made, namely that the new installer ought to install the update to the location the old version sits at, was already a compromise.
Actually, I don't understand why the majority of programs does it right (just as you describe) and what works all of them doesn't work for SD. Almost as if SD users were a particularly computer illiterate bunch ....
