Well I had hoped the last beta and now the official 3.0.7 had stopped the SD inflight shut downs, but unfortunately had a SD shut down 20 mins into flight today.

I think SD is a brilliant product....except for these shut downs.

Please can you try and make it more stable??

Running 4.4.2 on 1st gen nexus 7.

regards

It is unlikely we could ever make SkyDemon for Android entirely immune to crashes. Even the built-in apps on Android crash fairly often. There are simply factors on Android over which app developers have no control whatsoever.

However, the main issue that was affecting in-flight stability in 3.0.6 (which we COULD work around) has been worked around.

We will still investigate any crash report for which you can provide a log, of course.

OK, always willing to help.......how do I provide a log, it just shuts down?
Should I consider an ipad or dedicated nexus 7 for greater reliability?

Good news for android users:

I had a 2 hour flight in german airspace today. I had 3 installations (3.0.7) on 2 Nexus 7 (with android 4.4.3) and a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (with android 4.4.4). One of the Nexus 7 crashed very often in the past. Today I had no crash at all on all devices!!! I hope this will be the same in future flights, if yes the confidence for SD will be back for me.

Comparing Nexus 7 (2011 version) and Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, I feel the Nexus is the better choice. On the one side the display of the Tab 8.4 is brighter, but the colours of the terrain shading on the Nexus are much better. This is strange because the Tab 8.4 has much more pixels than the old Nexus 2011!

Mike, our experience is very different. Crashes in built-in iOS apps, though not unheard of, are rare.
