Please can SD display D.ATIS information in the same way that METARs are displayed and updated. The data is available through ACARS so should be obtainable. Thanks.

ACARS is a system for transmitting data between ground stations and aircraft. Am I missing something? What makes you think we could gain access to such systems?

I am not suggesting the use of ACARS, I only mentioned it to highlight that digital ATIS information is available for some airfields and ACARS is an example of a method of accessing the data.

There may well be other methods that SD could use and that is the suggestion to explore these. In the US it is possible to dial a number and listen to the automated weather station at a large number of fields.

Although the met information is similar to the METAR the ATIS includes useful information like the runway in use, navaid servicability, runway state etc.

8 years old topic, still missing this very useful feature. D-ATIS is part of most of the modern EFBs nowdays, messages available for US airports from FAA SWIM and via the AFTN network for rest of the world.

No, the stuff you're referring to isn't really available in Europe.
