I noticed that German approach plates (apparently from a Jeppesen source?) are available for a fee. This is great! Are there any plans to make other countries' approach plates also available (for a fee)?

What I am talking about is the VFR approach chart a la Bottlang/Jeppesen. There are far more charts available from this source than from the official AIP.

Thanks, -- Chris.

If we are made aware of a publisher of approach plates that is popular and lots of people want to see delivered through SkyDemon, we certainly get in touch with them (or they get in touch with us) to discuss the possibility. I doubt we would resell Jeppesen plates, though.

Why not Jeppesen?

..... unless you mean they are expensive and difficult to deal with

Hi Tim,

a lot of AIP's with approach charts in europe are online for free in the web.
Here's a list with links (Short description is in german, but country and link is self-explaining):

gCAP plates are targetted towards IFR pilots. Since SkyDemon is primarily for VFR operations, we are waiting to see a certain level of demand before looking seriously about offering gCAP plates for distribution within SkyDemon.

Where can we find the prices and further details of the AFE and Pooley airfield plates options?

I'm particularly interested in the georeferenced plates, and whether the plates can be downloaded for the whole of the UK or whether we only have the option to download the plates as and when needed.

Thanks.

Hi

AFE Plates
Pooley's Plates

A 'download all' function will be available in the next version.

Great to see the new version is using georefernced plates for VFR with sybscription to Pooleys. It would be a great Christmas present if georeferencing were to be included on approach plates as well.

Is this one small step for the programmers and one giant leap for the pilots?

(sorry for thread crossover)

+1 for gCap. They're targetted at IMC-rated pilots really. For us, you tend to start off VFR, use skydemon for in-flight nav (VFR) then find cloud at your destinate and switch to a instrument approach - would be great to be able to quickly pull up the chart through Skydemon quickly.
