I just tried exactly the same, and it worked fine on my iPad - no crash, textual plate displayed.

However, as I mentioned yesterday, the Chart is still display 90 degrees out from my iPad's orientation, regardless of turning it to read.

No crash, but I get the keyboard sticking open on the iPad3 and it wont go away unless I log out & back in again.

I also get the keyboard sticking open on the iPad2 on several occasions with the new version. Furthermore it seems as V2.4 is quite slower, when pushing some buttons.

I have also had an intermittent crash when selecting some plate and textual data running 2.4 on iOS5.1.1. Also get some plates at oriented opposite to screen ie portrait screen position landscap plate display...

I have also had severall crashes when viewing plates on the iPad

My SD repeatedly crashes under the following conditions:-

A list of available plates has been generated under the Plates tab, obviously during an internet connection, but a specific plate has not been viewed, (and hence perhaps, is not in memory). A subsequent attempt is made to view this plate when an internet connection is not available, e.g. during flight, SD crashes. When SD is restarted all previously downloaded data, TAFs, METARs have been lost.

(Hesitantly he suggests....... could this be an error trapping issue....)

Having used SD for the first time in the air on a multi-leg UK-French trip yesterday, I am just in awe, just brilliant!!!

I have the crashes under the condition you describe, tag is there but when you come to view there is no Internet connection, but also I have the crash when there has been good connection. The crash is normally proceeded by a lengthy hanging period.

There is a known bug in 2.4 where it can crash if you attempt to download a plate when no internet connection is available. This will be resolved in the 2.4.1 release.

We are not responsible for the orientation of plate PDFs, we simply supply them directly from Eurocontrol. However if you have feedback on any UK plate whose orientation appears to be incorrect, you can reach NATS, who author the plates, at ais.supervisor@nats.co.uk if you would like to comment on them.
