I am looking at purchasing a new iPAD 3 with WiFi & cellular connection.

According to Apple's specification this has ASSISTED GPS & GLONASS connectivity.

What I have been trying to find out is whether the iPAD GPS/GLONASS functions with an autonomous/standalone signal. ie without the WiFi or cellular assist.

I have contacted Apple who are unable to give me a straight answer!
