Yes, this would definitely be a worthwhile addition and is something we'll try to schedule for the future.

Here's the problem:

During a flight yesterday using the iPad and SD, I had 2 occasions when SD dropped out and I think we all accept that this can happen. However, I do think that it is worth considering how a recovery from this unfortunate situation can be as quick and smooth as possible when “in flight”. Consequently, it is necessary to relaunch SD on the iPad; reload the ROUTE which takes time; resulting in less concentration on the job of flying the plane at that time when I'm now totally lost as SD isn't working!!!! (OK, I know let's go back to the basic VFR training -- VORs, NDBs & MAP to ground features, etc -- in other words dinosaurs)

Here's a suggestion:

Would it not be possible for SD on every launching to detect any earlier “unclean shutdown”and restore the last known ROUTE. That would means a single operation to full recovery, less time looking down at my lap solving problems and more time looking out to enjoy the flight. (Sorry, scanning for other aircraft etc, etc -- correct answer)

There is a known issue when updating the charts where it will take a few seconds to perform the map unload and reload. If you're patient, SkyDemon will get it done and return you to the map. We'll move this process into the background in the future.

I encountered this problem last night (on an iPad 1) when retrieving charts it just hangs with the Sky Demon Title at the top of the screen!

Had an iPAD 3 for the last 3 days. Two reasons: My son (under 5 years) and SD!

Very nice display. In this short time I downloaded virtually all Europe's maps. No problems with SD coping to necessitate re-booting, as you encountered PinkLeader. On the odd occasion it took a few extra seconds (10-15) to update the display retrieving the new maps. Incidentally,I have just downloaded Air Navigation Pro along with the 3D data charts. I wish I hadn't! Simply said: SD is for flying & AirNavPro is for playing. Not intuitive at all (with apologies to both Apple and Xample).

Anyone got this problem? Ipad version works OK until I go to setup/charts when it just hangs. Only remedy is to reboot the ipad and forget chart updates.

Maybe I am missing something.

Have updated the app to latets verison.
