Recently bought the full SD package for the iPad - am loving it so far but have yet to fly with it navigating as I've only just 'manufactured' a knee-board affair for it to sit on.

However, have run a few simulation flights, and done some planning, and it's 1000% better than my now redundant Skymap II, which is a shame in a way as I've had that since 1998 and it cost me a month's pay!!

Now, I have noticed a slight annoyance with regard to 'position reports'. It seems that SD will position report to an Airways Reporting Point (if close), even though this layer is switched off in the map. It's a bit annoying as a) ATC don't really want you to report that unless you are up there with the Skygods above FL40 and IFR, b) if the map layer is off, you can't see the reporting point on the map anyway and c) for someone who doesn't fly IFR ever, airways reporting point names are a bit of a dark art and usually totally ignored.

Is there any way that this can be switched off either in conjunction with switching off the map layer, or as a seperate setting?

If there is a real good reason why it HAS to use these, then please shout up as I'd be interested to know why!

Thanks.
