A regular example for me is Aberdeen/Inverness. If there are icing conditions, you can't take up a direct track between the two, you would probably route via ADN.

No. The orange line doesn't necessarily represent a route; after all, often people will choose to divert well before they reach their original intended destination. We therefore have no plans to make the alternate a full-fledged route with rubber-banding, sorry.
