Maybe that was it, I haven't kept the files but if it happens again I'll check that file first.

Sounds a little like the problem I had, which I eventually traced to a corrupted userwaypoints.xml file - it contained a couple of hundred ASCII NUL characters and nothing else IIRC. If you still have the files you removed (e.g. in another directory), it might be worth checking to see if there's a pattern forming. I certainly never managed to work out what corrupted the file, and SkyDemon has been stable since the problem.

Cheers,

Hard to say, but it's a possibility. The maps wouldn't just corrupt themselves though.

For info if anyone has a similar problem - eventually fixed after also stripping out the map data and all other files apart from the licence file under the data section. I left the routes in there and they came up fine once I'd done another re-install.

Tim - was this a corrupt map problem?

Odd, SD was working perfectly last night, came to plan a flight for tomorrow and it opens the warning screen and immediately crashes to the desktop.

I've re-booted, re-installed, removed and downloaded the latest public release, repaired, re-installed re-booted etc. There has been a Windows 7 update - any issues you may be aware of? - I can't get the program to run no matter what I do and I've been using it error free for some time?

Thanks,

Ian
