Hi dear SD users, hi dear SD team!

I hope my topic hasn't been discussed before (please delete then). I used the search but didn't find anything like that.

First and foremost: I know that SD is primarily a VFR tool but since starting my IR, I use SD for IFR flights and love the low level airways view, the possibility to download IFR plates and the approach overlays. So, I totally appreciate SD and don't think about switching to Foreflight or whatever.

But one thing I would like to suggest: Is it possible to make the SID's and STAR's as overlays? When having a lot of stress during an arrival or departure, it would help a lot to easily see minimum altitudes, speed restrictions and so on instead of switching between map and chart.

Best regards
Patrick

Hi, and thank you for your kind words about SkyDemon.

It's certainly possible, but it would be a lot of additional work for us to georeference those charts and we do not get a lot of demand for them.

Hey Tim!

Thx for your answer. I totally understand that. Is it maybe a simple workaround to make SID/STAR charts slightly transparent over the map (or just a part of the map) instead of downloading them and opening in a new window?

Regards
Patrick

Hi Tim,
The display of georeferenced IFR charts is definitely for me a huge feature !
I don't forget that you did it for France, despite a lot of work for you.
Coupled with a Garmin G5 and AP via RS232/NMEA and BT makes SkyDemon the very best !
For sure, with géoreferenced STARS and SID, we should be close to paradise...
As Patrick, for georeferenced VFR or IFR charts, I'd also greatly appreciate the possibility to set their transparency.
Many many thanks.
Yves

Patrick, overlaying the SID/STAR chart in the SkyDemon map is the same as georeferencing them.

Yves, I'm not sure we've heard requests to set the transparency of georeferenced charts overlaid on the map before, can you describe why this would be useful to you?

Hello Tim,
The possiblility to adjuste the transparency of geolocalised charts (VFR or IFR) would be very usefull :

Sorry my post is gone alone !!! So yes, usefull to see the background map, including airspaces, terrain, obstacles, waypoints, that could'nt be displayed on the georeferenced chart, especially on the IFR charts.
This could be very usefull, for exemple if the VFR chart is rough or if you perform an IFR approach in a non-controled airspace, or if, after an IFR approach, you continue your flight to a VFR airfield.
Futhermore, the background map could be seen through where the georeferenced chart shows only text.
So adjusting the transparency would be nice ! even if I'd prefer to have georeferenced SID and STARS !!!
Kind greetings.
