Goodwood airfield is currently running a TIS-B trial, where Mode S (MLAT) aircraft positions are rebroadcast by a TIS-B transmitter.
I reconfigured my SE2 to receive TIS-B, vice FLARM, and went for a flight around the Goodwood area.
All seemed to work well and I detected rebroadcast aircraft positions that could be identified by a "#" prefix to the aircraft's registration.
I was also surprised to see a new symbol on my SD map.
It was a "tower" type symbol, located on the airfield, that was mostly coloured green, but occasionally red.
It was obviously the TIS-B transmitter but I am not sure how its position was sent to SD and also what the green and red colours signified.
I have looked in the latest SD manual but couldn't find any info on TIS-B or the tower symbol, unless I was searching for the wrong terms.
Can you please explain this?
Thanks
Tony
