If you have the latest firmware for your AT-1 you should be able to use Bluetooth to connect to it instead of WiFi, leaving your internet connectivity fully available.

I use the SkyDemon application with an iPad without GPS or SIM card.

I connect my iPad via Wi-Fi to an AT-1 to receive GPS position and traffic information.

I would also like to have internet access with my iPad so that SkyDemon can update weather information.

Currently, I can do this with my iPhone, but I have to switch between the Wi-Fi of my iPad to that of my phone (I lose GPS on the iPad) then return to the Wi-Fi of the AT-1 (I lose internet access).

Does anyone have feedback on using a Wi-Fi hotspot with an iPad, SkyDemon, AT-1, and iPhone?
