Hello
I would like an option to easy be able to switch the map to satellite image. For example. in VFR darkness,
if you have to make an emergency landing, you have the opportunity to find a suitable landing surface. If I bring up a satellite view today, I don't have my position with the airplane icon.
Today I use Google maps in the background but it would be better to be able to switch in Skydemon

Do you really think that in an emergency situation you'll have time and capacity to be searching aerial photography for suitable fields, even if a good internet connection is available?

This is the reason why we do not currently emphasize aerial photography in navigation mode, or indeed include an aircraft overlay on it.

it gives a much better overview than what I see when I look out. then it's just black

Fair enough. I will be interested to see opinions of others on this thread. If it's something that lots of people think would be valuable, we will of course give it our attention.

I very rarely fly SEP night as i don't like the odds. I did use google maps as pre-flight and during the flight to continuously update my situational awareness on direction of flight in the event of engine out, to avoid densely populated areas, water and forest and head for the field. I've been taught to head for the darkness, not the lights. At 8,000 ft you may have time, but I would instead every e.g. 15 min in flight update myself on area as I also use the go-to mode to always have situational awareness on glide range to airports, runway lengths and pick my current best choice at any time.

When flying in route you have all the time in the world. when the fan stops you have no time and the brain may not works as well as you hoped.
